Director and Counsel – Head of Regulatory Legal U.S.
Job Summary
Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank (“CACIB”) is seeking a Head of Regulatory Legal U.S. to lead regulatory coverage of the activities of CACIB in the United States. The successful candidate for this role will be familiar with the lines of business conducted by CACIB in the U.S. and within the Americas region, including commercial and investment banking, capital markets, and derivatives, and have a strong grasp of U.S. banking and other regulations as applied to those activities.
Based in New York, this position reports locally to the General Counsel for CACIB Americas and globally to the Head of Global Regulatory Legal (“GRL”), who resides in Paris. The Head of Regulatory Legal U.S. is directly responsible for managing a team of 2-3 attorneys in New York and for coordinating with the head office and other regional hubs as needed.
Key Responsibilities
The Regulatory Unit within Legal Americas is responsible for advising management, business lines, and control and oversight functions within the bank on the permissibility under U.S. laws and regulations of proposed activities, transactions, and investments and on U.S. statutory, regulatory and supervisory developments impacting CACIB Americas, and, in coordination with the Head of GRL, CACIB globally and other members of the Credit Agricole Group.
The Regulatory Unit performs the legal and regulatory watch for banking and capital markets related topics in partnership with the Compliance department and, at the direction of the Head of GRL, participates on behalf of the Credit Agricole Group in industry led regulatory advocacy efforts and government outreach projects. The team also provides advice to Crédit Agricole, S.A. (“CASA”), the parent company of CACIB, in connection with CASA’s combined U.S. operations, and supports the preparation of the group’s FR Y-7, FR Y-10, and certain other U.S. bank regulatory filings.
The successful candidate for this position will also demonstrate strong management skills and change management capacity in a sophisticated and challenging business environment; have a creative, curious, adaptable, solutions-oriented, and client-focused mindset; and adopt a thoughtful and collegial approach with internal colleagues across the bank.
Salary Range: $290-315K
