Summary of the position:

Validator: Experienced Trade finance professional responsible for timely and accurate review and validation of Documentary and Guarantee transactions of Trade Finance in BO Platform.

Documentary Trade includes both Import and Export transactions under Open account, Collection and Letter of Credit instruments.

Document examiner: Experienced Trade finance professional who need to perform the crucial, time-consuming, and somewhat niche skill of manually examining documents/presentations/demand, both in Import/Export, drawn under Commercial and/or drawn under Import/Export Standby Letters of Credit.

Trade Finance Operation:

 The Trade Finance Operations team focuses on processing of trade finance products offered by the bank, including transactions such as import & export bills, foreign bill collection, banker's acceptances/reimbursements, letters of credit and open account trading etc. The team also provides transactional-based expertise to the business to ensure accurate and timely conduct in accordance with ICC guidelines, bank procedures & trade finance policy manual. Staff supporting this team requires a good understanding of transaction processing, operational risk and sound knowledge of the ICC rules/guidelines such as UCP/ISBP/ISP/URDG/URC standards and applicable Local and Global regulations like financial security Policy and Procedures of the bank.

Main duties: Validator/Document examiner:

  • Validator-Reviewing and Authorizing of day-to-day transactions input by processors in bank’s processing applications (Involving Letter of Credits, Documentary Collections, Open Account, Guarantees) as per local operating procedures, international rules such as URC, UCP, ISBP, URR, URDG, ISP etc.
  • Document Examiner- examine Import/Export documents drawn under Commercial and Standby Letters of Credit, to determine compliance with the terms and conditions of the instrument, in addition to being in compliance with UCP/URR latest version, communicates discrepancies back to bank and/or customer, using appropriate verbiage.
  • Common
  1. Adhering to local regulations and the latest compliance (Financial Security) policies and AML guidelines.
  2. Meet required productivity / accuracy metrics set for the team.
  3. Adhere to internal policies to ensure compliance with legal parameters as well as company policies and procedures
  4. Delivers as per Service Level Agreement at all times, ensure service quality is maintained.
  5. Ensure nil operational losses/ revenue leakages and accepts responsibility and accountability for execution of all operational processes
  6. Monitors transaction inflow and its maneuvering in workflow for ensuring timely processing
  7. Identifies training, development needs of the team, conducts training at frequent intervals to meet the training requirements Reconciliation.
  8. Perform control related activities to mitigate risk.
  9. Flexible to working hours, as per Organization’s requirements.

 

 

Supplementary Information

  • Validators could perform the dual role of Document examiner and vice versa given their experience and teams requirement.

  • Few Validators/Documents examiner might be assigned roles of People Management based on teams’ requirement and individual performance.

  • Any other assignments by the EBONI HOD or CASPL Head-Operations or Chief Operating Officer.

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Candidate's Educational Qualification and Professional Experience:

Graduate in any discipline (Preferred Should have first class in all the examinations)

  • Basic Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other operating system skills especially using emails
  • 06 – 10 years of prior experience in Trade Finance (Preferred).
  • Working knowledge and compliance of various latest provisions of applicable ICC rules and regulations like

·       Working knowledge and compliance of various latest provisions of applicable ICC rules and regulations like

o   Uniform Customs and Practice for Documentary Credits (UCP 600)

o   International Standby Practices (ISP 98)

o   Uniform Rules for Reimbursement (URR 725)

o   Uniform Rules for Collection (URC 522)

o   Uniform Rules for Demand Guarantees (URDG 758)

o   International Standard Banking Practice (ISBP 745)

 

·        Certifications like CITF, CDCS & CSDG by LIBF will be added advantage but not mandatory. CDCS certification is to be completed mandatorily by Document Examiners during commencing of the job role or within a year of the same.

·        CSDG certifications is Preferred for incumbent joining the Guarantees team in this role.

·        All incumbent performing this role without certification (other than Document examiners) ideally should target to attain this certification within a year and maximum 2 years in the role.

·        Knowledge of French will be an added advantage (not mandatory).

·        In addition, any other relevant certifications will also be of added advantage (not mandatory) e.g. CTF by IIBF.

Knowledge of Reconciliation, Funds transfer, Forex payments, SWIFT etc. would be necessary for the role of a Validator but not of a Document examiner (unless executing dual role-refer to secondary activities)
