Summary
Responsible for selling Global Market products to existing customers of the Bank and liaising with other areas of the Bank with the aim of attracting business from potential new customers. The customer base are mainly financial institutional clients (i.e Banks, Central Banks, security companies, Insurance, Hedge Funds etc) in HK, China and Taiwan. The primary product segment is FX, FX options & interest rate products.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategy and Business Planning
- Market products by speaking with customers about their needs, financial markets and propose suitable ideas and recommendations. The approach varies according to the customers and the products:
E.g. FI clients - provide information on the markets and advising the customers on how to capture market opportunities & hedge exposures (for e.g. develop products to reduce the impact of movements).
- Identify, target and solicit new customers.
- Responsible for some aspects of transaction structuring and work with structuring teams to provide support in developing new or complex transaction structures.
- Originate transactions from clients and co-ordinate the efficient execution of the trading desk.
- Formulate marketing plans and relate these to marketing opportunities.
- Be aware of all economic and financial data likely to affect the products being marketed.
- Develop knowledge of client needs and co-ordinate the Bank’s efforts to service customer organisations.
- Plan and organise client visits and meetings.
- Liaise with Relationship Managers / Senior Bankers in other areas of the bank regarding marketing opportunities.
- Aim to meet individual objectives and targets and overall team and product line budget.
2. Management and Reporting
- Report to the Head of HK Flow FX & Rates sales daily on an informal basis on the progress of the business and specific issues.
- Attend a weekly meeting with the Sales team to review market strategy, exchange ideas and receive updates on any important administrative matters.
3. Control
- Ensure clients are suitably classified and are dealt with appropriately.
- Ensure clients are cleared by credit, legal, compliance and back office before trading.
- Ensure the trade monitoring of counterparty risk
4. Risk
- Adhere to and understand risks to the bank and the client resulting from marketing initiatives or successful conclusion of transactions.
5. Communication
- Entertain clients to promote the bank and its products.
- Network with contacts in the business to generate business for GMD.
