Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented lawyer to join our dynamic global markets legal team.

 

The candidate will work closely with senior lawyers, business lines and support functions to provide comprehensive legal support on global markets and investment banking (including derivatives, structured products, structured equity, debt capital markets and master agreement negotiations) across the APAC region.

 

Key Responsibilities 

Under the supervision of the Head of Global Markets Legal Asia Pacific, the candidate will be in charge of:

  • Advising business lines and support functions on a wide range of capital markets transactions in different asset classes including over-the-counter and cleared derivatives, structured repos and securities lending, project finance hedging, structured notes and other wrappers, distributions, repackagings, bond offering and issuances, private placements, corporate equity derivatives, treasury activities and master agreement negotiations. 
  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating documentation and developing and updating standardizing contracts and contributing to the approval of new activities and products, complex and cross border transactions;
  • Providing responsive, sound and consistent advice on legal and contractual issues to business lines and support functions so that they perform their activities while minimizing legal risks;
  • Conducting legal research and analysis on laws, regulations and policies affecting business lines and support functions;
  • Recommending, instructing, and managing external lawyers to ensure that high quality and focused advice is received at reasonable cost in a timely manner to appropriately protect bank’s interests;
  • Representing our bank in industry forums and associations;
  • Developing and maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders and acting as a professional and value-add partner;
  • Performing any other duties as instructed by the Head of Global Markets Legal Asia Pacific.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law from a recognised university and qualified as a solicitor/attorney/lawyer in a recognised Common Law jurisdiction. 2 to 6 PQE.
  • Another undergraduate or graduate degree in Business, Commerce or Finance would be an asset.

Level of minimal experience

6-10 years

Experience

  • Prior experience relevant to the key responsibilities above, preferably in a global financial institution or global law firm.

Technical skills required

  • Strong knowledge of global markets laws and regulations.
  • Prior exposure to global markets, debt offerings and other investment banking products is required.
  • Reliable, precise, well organized and meticulous;
  • Ability to quickly and effectively assess and prioritize legal and contractual risk issues;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, performance-driven, multi-task environment and respect tight deadlines;
  • Ability to innovate and manage change and complexity with confidence;
  • Intellectual curiosity, thirst for learning and proactive enthusiasm for personal development;
  • Dynamic, enthusiastic and a team player.

Languages
