Job summary

The opportunity:
As the Vice President of Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP), you will play a critical leadership role in guiding and enhancing HR operations at a leading bank in Montreal. This senior position requires an experienced HR professional adept at executing strategic initiatives and promoting a culture of excellence. You will manage a broad range of HR functions with a significant impact on talent management, organizational development, and employee engagement.


What you will do:

  • Develop and execute HR strategies aligned with the bank's objectives, promoting a culture of high performance and strong employee engagement.
  • Lead comprehensive recruitment processes, from sourcing and interviewing to offer negotiation, including strategic headcount planning.
  • Implement innovative onboarding and offboarding programs to streamline employee integration and departure.
  • Direct talent management programs, such as performance management, succession planning, leadership development, and oversee the Global Markets Analyst and Intern programs.
  • Collaborate with department heads and global HR colleagues on talent reviews, skills assessments, and targeted development initiatives.
  • Manage employee relations, coaching managers on performance issues and partnering with external counsel as needed for internal investigations.
  • Oversee compensation, benefits, annual promotion exercises, and ensure decisions are aligned with market data and performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on complex HR issues and strategic initiatives.
  • Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion, fostering an environment of respect and belonging.
  • Ensure legal compliance, particularly with Quebec labor laws, and manage mobility and career development opportunities.
  • Act as a change agent, driving organizational change and continuous improvement.

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree (e.g., MBA) preferred.
  • Professional HR certification (e.g., CHRP, SHRM-SCP) highly desirable.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of progressive HR experience in the financial industry, preferably covering sales and trading functions, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of partnering with senior executives to advance HR strategies and address complex organizational challenges.
