Missions

l  Finance Legal based in Tokyo covering general finance legal work of CACIB on a full time basis

l  Reporting to Head of Legal, Japan (based in Tokyo).

l  Assisting all Business Lines in CACIB (including CASEC where necessary) in respect of legal matters (in both a transactional and advisory role), as instructed by the Head of Legal Japan

l  Drafting/reviewing legal documents (Japanese and English) such as:

- loan agreements, collateral agreements, guarantees, general banking agreements (“Gintori” and other “Yakujo-sho”), deposit agreements, confidentiality agreements, term sheets, etc.,

in connection with the products such as:

- corporate loans, structured finance, export finance, project finance, trade finance, syndication, real estate finance, aviation finance, deposits, etc.,

in close communication with the relevant internal/external parties.

l  Liaising with, and managing the use of, external counsel, ensuring that external advisers are duly and appropriately appointed.

l  Assisting Compliance Department in providing advice and guidance on local regulations, laws and policies and their impact on the Bank’s business.

l  Providing advice taking into account the Bank’s interests and policies.

l  Providing a client driven service in the resolution of legal and regulatory issues, taking into account business needs, and contributing to solutions.

l  Keeping abreast of the latest legal, regulatory and case law developments affecting the business of the Bank, informing and educate the business. 

l  Dispute resolution.

l  Strategy and business planning for above.

l  Complying with the regular reporting requirements to Head of Legal, Japan and where necessary to Regional Head, General Counsel Asia Pacific (based in Hong Kong) and Head Office.

l  Assist Head of Legal, Japan to supervise other team member in LGL.

Minimal education level

Academic qualification / Speciality

Japanese Law degree

 

Level of minimal experience

6-10 years

Experience

Significant experience in equivalent work in financial institutions (e.g. banks, security firms, etc.) or law firm in Japan

Expected skills

Good understanding of bank's products.

Fundamental market knowledge.

IT literate.

Motivate.

Cood communicator.   Team oriented.

Languages

Native level of Japanese language, fluent English
