Job summary

The Summer Analyst Internship program offers an opportunity for college undergraduates interested in finance and corporate / investment banking to actively participate in this fast-paced and challenging industry. We provide our Summer Analysts with the tools necessary for professional growth and career advancement. The goal of the Summer Analyst program is to develop the ideal candidate into a U.S. Analyst – coverage analyst position upon graduation. 

 

Responsibilities vary depending on the team, but generally include:

  • Assist in preparation of proposals and pitches to the clients in coordination with the relationship managers.
  • Participate in preparation of the business opportunity memorandum as well as credit applications, including a description of the transaction, presentation of the main features, especially focusing on risk analysis.
  • Perform complex financial modelling and valuations analysis in Excel, including development of new models (from scratch) and manipulation of exiting (e.g. sell-side or client) models.
  • Assist in the diligence process by reviewing project documents (such as engineering reports, power purchase agreements and other project related contracts), financial and legal reports and other documentation.
  • Support compliance efforts including new Client on-boarding and Client periodic reviews.
  • Liaise among various internal and external stakeholders including middle and back office, Agent Banks and participating Banks involved on the ongoing portfolio management of loan transactions.
  • Support the transaction management work in relation to the existing portfolio of transactions.
  • Assist to prepare annual reviews including all the internal worksheets and applications (rating grid, environmental screening, profitability calculation, Know–Your-Customer forms and other compliance items).
  • Assist to prepare material for approval of waivers and amendments.
  • Assist to respond to internal requests, including audit, internal control, and new activity & product committee.
  • Support research, analysis and preparation of presentations and other materials to proactively understand client needs and originate new business.
  • Participate in preparation of special projects / ad hoc analysis.
  • Stay up to date on industry news, trends, and actively participate in idea generation.
  • Engage in shadowing opportunities which include collaborating with senior and junior mentors, completing assigned projects, attending meetings, giving presentations, participating in formal training, attending speaker series, networking, and social events.

Teams

Latin America-This team focuses on Energy & Infrastructure in Latin America, covering Power, Infrastructure, Mining, and Oil & Gas (midstream and downstream). They handle project finance arranging, advisory services, and some coverage responsibilities across key markets like Mexico, Colombia, Peru, Chile, and Brazil.

North America-This team manages a diverse portfolio of project financings in the North American energy and infrastructure sectors. They also support business origination by processing credit applications and closing financings.

Real Estate-Focused on credit analysis for Commercial Real Estate transactions, this group works with Real Estate, Lodging & Gaming clients. Responsibilities include securing credit approvals, reviewing documentation, and managing exposures for single-asset, portfolio, and structured financings.

Shipping/Intermodal-This team uses a product-neutral approach to meet client needs, leveraging various bank products. They handle debt origination, structuring, risk analysis, credit applications, and closing debt facilities in collaboration with external legal advisers.

Advisory-Dedicated to Power, Utilities, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure, this team supports U.S. clients with structuring and raising capital, commercial advisory for PPPs and PPAs, and collaborating w/M&A teams on complex transactions.

Transportation-Global lead in aircraft/rail financing, delivering customized financing solutions across diverse markets.

  • College junior pursuing a degree in Finance or a related field
  • You must be eligible to work in the United States

  • Highly motivated and able to work independently, able to manage competing responsibilities and deadlines in a timely and efficient manner while working under pressure.
  • Strong interest in the energy and infrastructure / asset-backed financing sectors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, high attention to detail.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and able to take direction with limited oversight.
  • Proficient in English. Basic knowledge in Spanish is desirable (to work in Latin American transactions), but it is not required. Knowledge of French is a plus (but not required).

 

Technical Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of major computer applications including Excel, PowerPoint and Word, knowledge of finance applications (Bloomberg, CapitalIQ, etc…) is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving, quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial statements and financial analysis techniques including risk/return concepts and tools.
  • Some financial modelling skills, ideally project finance modelling.
  • Ability to perform research, analysis and synthesizing of materials in a professional setting.
