Job summary

Are you looking to launch your career in global banking? Do you want hands‑on experience at the centre of client operations, payments, and international transaction flows? Join our Transaction Banking Services (TBS) team and gain front‑line exposure to how an investment bank manages client relationships, oversees critical payment processes, and supports global trade and cash‑management activities.

 

This internship is an opportunity to work alongside experienced banking professionals, develop core operational and client‑service skills, and build a foundation for a future career in Transaction Banking, Operations, or Client Services.

 

Key responsibilities: 

Client & Account Support

  • Work as a key contact point between Relationship Managers, operational teams, and clients.
  • Assist with client account management, including monitoring balances, facilities, documentation, and daily enquiries.
  • Help maintain accurate mandates and support general account administration.

Payment & Transaction Processing

  • Support the authorisation and processing of client credits and debits, manual and automated/SWIFT payments, outward transfers, deposits, Letters of Credit, Guarantees, and standby L/C requests.
  • Assist in reviewing and investigating Nostro activity and daily financial reports.
  • Help manage and re-route SWIFT messages and support Swift Alliance user resets.
  • Process dormant account requests and assist with account openings.
  • Participate in ad‑hoc projects and initiatives led by the TBS Team Leader.

 Receivables & Supply Chain Finance

  • Support the processing of Supply Chain Finance and Receivables programmes.
  • Review documentation, risk participation agreements, and funding requests.
  • Liaise with internal teams and external platforms to ensure accurate booking and post‑funding reconciliation.

What You’ll Learn:

  • SWIFT standards and international banking operations
  • Client relationship management within a corporate and institutional banking environment
  • Regulatory requirements around Financial Crime, AML, and operational compliance
  • Core systems such as Excel, Business Objects, and operational banking platforms

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • To have attainted or be expected to attain a Bachelor's degree within relevant specialism with minimum classification of 2:1. 

Experience

  • Previous exposure to working within Financial Services or Banking environments via work experience or prior short-term internships would be advantageous. 
  • Experience and knowledge of customer service/Account Management 

 

Required skills

  • Proficient and competent with MS Excel with the ability to utilise V-Lookups, pivot tables and sumifs
  • Proficient with the wider MS Office suite 
  • Knowledge or prior exposure to SWIFT payments would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to work 
  • Strong numeracy skills
