Summary
- The successful candidate will provide legal services (in both a transactional and advisory role) in all non-capital markets general banking matters, oversee the provision of advice and support covering the full range of CA-CIB’s activities in a legal team (which presently consists of 27 lawyers across the APAC region). Currently, Hong Kong is the regional hub and we have local teams in Singapore, Mainland China, Taiwan, South Korea, Japan and India. The position will report to the General Counsel Asia Pacific based in Hong Kong.
- The successful candidate will add to the current 3 dedicated senior counsels and a sanctions counsel in the HK Central Legal team.
- In Australia, we obtained the branch license in early 2022. We have no legal headcount in Australia. The successful candidate is primarily responsible for providing legal support to our Sydney branch and Melbourne office.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing advice and covering all legal documentation on regulatory, general banking and finance matters, bilateral and syndicated lending, structured finance, export finance, global commodity finance, trade finance, receivable and supply chain finance solutions, cash management and debt restructuring.
- Advising on enforcement options in loan default scenarios.
- Advising on data privacy, bank secrecy, digital, outsourcing, employment law and/or procurement matters.
- Advising on general corporate commercial matters including review of vendor supply contracts, IT software licensing and ad hoc IP matters.
- Liaising with external counsels and/or other worldwide legal team members within CA-CIB / CASA as and when necessary.
- Participating in industry-wide initiatives and acting as CA-CIB's representative on various APLMA Product or Policy Committees.
- Liaising with London / Paris Legal and Legal teams in other regions of CA-CIB / CASA to ensure best practices consistency and continuity of standards across CA-CIB.
- Maintaining awareness of market changes and regulation, and the potential legal impact.
- Reviewing legal and regulatory developments and updating business or support functions.
- Providing legal input in approval process of new product or activity across APAC.
- Participating in projects regarding automation of the production of legal documents, digitalisation, e-Business and other new business initiatives and transversal projects.
- Providing day to day general finance legal assistance and dealing with ad-hoc queries from clients.

- Experience with working in an international law firm and (preferably) also in a financial institution
- Experience in advising on data privacy, bank secrecy, digital, outsourcing, employment law and/or procurement matters will be an advantage
