Key Responsibilities

The Ratings & Capital Structure Advisory is an important component of the Acquisition Finance and Advisory (“AFA”) team.  The main missions of the Ratings & Capital Structure Advisory team are to assist and advise the clients of the Bank:

  • In their discussions with the main Rating Agencies (S&P Global, Moody’s and Fitch Ratings), in order to either get an inaugural rating or to optimise their existing ratings and therefore improve their access to the Debt Capital Markets.
  • In the context of strategic financial transactions such as mergers & acquisitions, capital increases, refinancings, etc., work with the deal team to formulate the most appropriate capital structure and the likely impact on corporate and instrument ratings (capital structure advisory)


The VP’s main missions within the team will be to:

  • Pitch and execute rating advisory mandates (to handle direct relationship between clients and rating agencies)
  • Work closely with the various business lines of the Bank in order to evaluate/optimise potential implications on ratings and participate in the design of financing and capital structures
  • Analyse companies’ business model, financial structure, financial policy and credit profile
  • Assess companies’ external ratings profile based on Rating Agencies’ methodologies and prepare presentation materials to be used in strategic discussions with clients
  • Work with senior members of the team to expand the Ratings & Capital Structure Advisory Platform in the Americas including supervising and developing a more junior team member


The Rating Advisory VP will work closely with other departments within Credit Agricole CIB (Client Coverage groups, Loan Syndications, Debt Capital Markets, Leverage and Telcom Finance, Structured Finance, M&A Advisory, Equity Capital Markets, etc.) regarding ratings and any related issues across various industries


The job ensures exposure to a wide range of missions and sectors (financial diagnosis, accounting, in-depth analysis of various economic sectors, pitching, executing, etc.).


Legal and Regulatory Responsibilities


  • Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the Compliance manual and Compliance policies and procedures as issued from time to time.
  • Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate securities licenses including series 79 and series 63

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

  • Undergraduate degree required
  • MBA or equivalent desirable
  • Good financial & accounting knowledge

Level of minimal experience

3-5 years


  • 5+ years experience in a transaction-driven environment
  • Knowledge of rating agency process and methodologies
  • Knowledge of a second language (Spanish, French, Portuguese) a plus
  • Good commercial sense
  • Able to work with product lines and colleagues in different locations
  • Strong verbal and quantitative analytical skills
