Job summary

This position is part of the “Banking Talent Programme” organized by HKMA. The Programme targets fresh graduates from local universities and young graduates who will be offered six-month work opportunities and receive industry-specific training effective from early September 2020.

Summary

The successful candidate will to gain operations experience in the Capital Markets Operations Department which is responsible for all the operational Back Office support functions supporting market activities.  You will develop various skills: knowledge of financial products, knowledge of the financial market environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the day-to-day support of the capital market Back Office activities with focus on accuracy and completeness
  • Engages in direct contact with internal or external clients to ensure quality and timely services in trade support / processing and inquiries are provided.
  • Manage life cycle of trades which may include communication, booking, confirmation, reconciliation and settlement
  • Ensure that daily tasks are processed timely / settled smoothly and efficiently.
  • Work with senior staff to update/establish working procedures
  • Inform team leader of unusual booking and settlement matters when identified.
  • Perform investigation in trade details/confirmation/settlement discrepancies and related outstanding issues
  • Ensure deal booking, payments / confirmations are in compliance with local regulations and the internal policy.
  • Communicate with clients or counterparts regarding confirmations / settlement issues.
  • Monitor and follow-up on breaks and discrepancies appeared in system platforms
  • Conduct study, investigation or other ad-hoc assignments as directed by the team head
  • Proactive and responsive to discrepancy or disagreement issues and active participation in driving towards best possible resolution
  • Handle new products and update/establish the procedures
  • Handle daily reporting for internal control
  • Assist Head of Back Office / Line manager to carry out common projects / global initiatives
  • Assist in system enhancement and responsible for UAT testing
  • Provide support on HK holidays when other financial markets are open where we have business activities
