Job summary

Summary

Responsible for all aspects of the day to day running of the Guarantees area.

Key Responsibilities

· Responsible for the timely and accurate processing of guarantees and associated work.

Preparation and issuance/re-issuance/checking of guarantees including Tender Bonds, Advance Payment Guarantees, Performance Bonds, Retention Monies Guarantees, Customs Guarantees etc., (including the booking of our share of syndicated loans and guarantees).

Follow-up work on guarantees including amendments, extensions, cancellations/releases, queries and claims.

 Claiming and handling receipt of all related fees commissions.

 Maintaining Excel spreadsheets and monitoring/agreeing suspense accounts at month end.

·  Providing advice to clients and Front Office. Reviewing and helping to structure guarantee texts. Vetting/drafting guarantee texts for clients. Ensuring the compliance of client requests with authorisations held.

· Maintain an up to date set of procedures

· Ensure that all necessary controls and reporting are undertaken on a daily, weekly and monthly basis.

·  Processing appraisals for guarantee members of staff

Management and reporting

Organise the Guarantee team taking into account productivity, operational risk and Audit requirements

Co-ordinate with the Head of DGO staff related issues such as  training and  holidays

Deputising for Head of Department (in meetings, administrative duties, etc.).

Responsible for keeping Senior Manager informed of important events with regard to internal organisation, staffing, errors and incidents. Monthly statistics and Key Performance Indicators.

Legal and Regulatory Responsibilities

· Comply with all applicable legal, regulatory and internal Compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, the London Compliance manual and the Financial Crime Policy.

· Maintain appropriate knowledge to ensure to be fully qualified to undertake the role. Complete all mandatory training as required to attain and maintain competence.

· As a Manager, to be responsible for the implementation of internal systems and controls and ensuring staff adhere to requirements.

Candidate criteria

Minimal education level

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Academic qualification / Speciality

Specialist knowledge of the different products processed in the Guarantees area.

Knowledge of ICC rules for Guarantees.

Functional knowledge of all systems used in his area.
DESIRABLE:

Experience/knowledge of other Trade Finance operations, (L/C's, Collections, etc.)

Required skills

Experience of all aspects of guarantees work within a similar organization

Technical skills required

Pragmatic approach.

Proactive thinking.

Man management and communication skills.
