Summary
Be part of China Desk, the Trainee will assist the head of China Desk and the team in their roles of
- Client coverage in charge of a portfolio of Chinese corporate clients (PCO),
- Client coverage of Hong Kong-based Chinese corporate subsidiaries (PAM),
- Offshore booking in CACIB Hong Kong of facilities for Chinese corporate clients.
The ideal candidate should complete their graduation requirements by May 2025 and is available to start the position in June 2025. Trainee program is one year to begin with and possible for extension up to 2 years in total, subject to performance and business needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prompt interface with clients and internal stakeholders on day-to-day service issues / product enquiries/ Know Your Customer / due diligence / Audit / Compliance / Operations etc.
- Assist the team in preparing annual reviews and interim reviews, notably on the financial analysis part.
- Assist the offshore booking activities of credit facilities for Chinese clients at CACIB Hong Kong.
- Assist in the marketing materials, meeting reports, debriefing memo etc.
- Report and solve internal and administrative issues related to the client portfolio.
- Under guidance, understand and anticipate the risks associated with the activities of the bank.
- Understand client’s industry/ business sector, client’s strategy, businesses and financial situation, and anticipate its needs for services.
- Follow and apply compliance principles and internal rules.
- Facilitate access of other Branches and Units within CA-CIB global network to co-operation with clients.

Academic qualification / Speciality
University Degree or professional qualifications in Business, Economics, Accounting or related disciplines with less than 12 months’ experiences

Experience
Preferably some experience in credit and/or conducting KYC and/or customer service, in commercial banking field and with exposure to Chinese Corporate.
Required skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication (internal and external) skills with strong attention to details
- Team player. Capacity to work under time pressure
Technical skills required
- Interest and understanding of the global business environment, role and responsibilities of banks and of bankers.
- Commercial banking product knowledge and/or experience preferred – i.e. bank accounts, loans, trade finance, foreign exchange, syndications, cash management etc.
