The Canada Branch has offices in Montreal and Toronto providing financial services to Canadian Financial Institutions, Banks, Pension Funds & SSA and to large Canadian headquartered international corporations.

 

Crédit Agricole Services & Operations is hosting a part of all Crédit Agricole CIB’s support functions, from KYC, Back Offices, Risk, IT, Legal or Finance supporting our growing operations in the Americas and complementing our European and Asian operations platforms in a “follow the sun” approach.

Summary:

The CACIB NY Tax Department has historically been resourced with 6 members (including the Head of Tax) responsible for managing CACIB Americas’ tax positions, consisting of US tax compliance reporting, controlling tax risks and providing tax advisory and planning.  As CACIB’s operations have rapidly grown in the Americas, the NY Tax Department has managed it’s responsibility but not effectively.   The firm’s targeted goals under the MTP 2028 will further increase the volume of work and stretch the team’s capacity.   The NY Tax Department has a need to add an additional head count to address specific risks that we have not been able to effectively manage with the status quo.

 

Specifically, with CACIB’s increased volumes, products and expected balance sheet growth, the additional tax headcount will have the following responsibilities:  

 

Primary Function:

Preparing the US Information Reporting and Withholding compliance and supporting other on-going US tax operations.

 

Responsibilities:

  • US Information Reporting and Withholding/FATCA
    • Annual form 1042/1042-S and 1099 reporting/preparation and coordination.
    • Coordination/responding to form W-8/W-9 request for CACIB and US subs.
    • Supporting Head of Tax and Tax Manager with the completion of the Information Reporting and Withholding remediation transversal project.
    • Supporting Head of Tax and Tax Manager with governance of Tax Withholding and Reporting Committee.
  • Ongoing Tax Operations
    • Coordination and support of the department’s two income tax return preparers with state and local tax return preparation, filings, and notice responses.
    • Support Tax Managers and Tax Specialists with the preparation and filing of indirect tax reporting, e.g. property taxes, excise taxes and sales taxes.
    • Support/assist NY Tax Department tax efficiency and development initiatives.

Bachelor Degree / BSc Degree or equivalent

Experience

  • Working knowledge of US tax certifications, e.g., forms W-8 and W-9.
  • Working knowledge of the forms 1042/1042-S and 1099
  • Exposure to global income tax treaties, in particular the US income tax treaty.
  • Working knowledge of US State corporate income tax returns.

Required skills

  • Verbal and written communication skills in English and French required (You will need to service Anglophone clients and work with Anglophone colleagues)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (e.g., Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
